It's been a long time, but hockey is finally back in the Windy City tonight, as the Chicago Blackhawks face off against the Detroit Red Wings in the United Center for the first preseason game. So, who's playing and how do you watch?
Well, the lines go as follows:
Bertuzzi-Bedard-Teravainen
Lardis-Nazar-Hall
Donato-Spellacy-Smith
Savoie-Ludwinski-Anderson
Defensemen consist of Martinez, Brodie, Murphy, Jones, Korchinski, and Vlasic. The goalies are Mrazek and Weeks.
The power play sees Bedard, Bertuzzi, Jones, Hall, and Teravainen on PP1, and Lardis, Nazar, Smith, Savoie, and Korchinski on PP2.
This is a big game for Frank Nazar, as he's fighting for a roster spot and not to go back down to the Michigan Wolverines of the NCAA. Nazar scored a goal in the three games he played in last year while on the Blackhawks. The 20-year-old was selected 13th overall in the 2022 draft and this is the closest he's ever been to the opening night roster.
This is also going to provide a good look at how the new line of Connor Bedard, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Teuvo Teravainen looks, as they're both the first line and first power play unit. Kyle Davidson's job over the off-season was to get people to surround Bedard, and he did just that with those two acquisitions. We'll see if they click, or if it takes a game or two for them to get going.
You can watch the game on Blackhawks.com, as long with the other two preseason games before the new channel launches. The CHSN channel isn't officially up until October 1st, so you'll have to view everything Hawks through there for now when it comes to watching the games. It'll be up and running for the October 1st game against the Minnesota Wild and everything after that.
