The Chicago Blackhawks and general manager Kyle Davidson are reportedly eyeing down a large off sheet this upcoming summer.
Team reporters within the organization, The Athletic's Scott Powers and Mark Lazerus, confirm that Kyle Davidson is considering an offer sheet this summer.
The Blackhawks will be in the best financial situation in the NHL with $30 million in cap space to work with, and acquire star support for rookie sensation
Connor Bedard.
It's already been confirmed that the Blackhawks are taking a run at two big named superstars in free agency, as we spoke about yesterday.
But what if they pull off a surprising move that's only completed by general managers once in a blue moon?
"Davidson can even take a page out of St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong's book and attempt to offer sheet a pending restricted free agent, perhaps someone such as Dallas'
Wyatt Johnston, Minnesota's
Marco Rossi or Toronto's
Matthew Knies."
And that's just what Davidson might do, he's set up the organization with it in a recent trade
Mikko Rantanen,
Taylor Hall Traded in Blockbuster 3 Team Trade With Blackhawks, Hurricanes.
The Blackhawks dealt Hall to the Hurricanes in exchange for their own third-round 2025 draft pick, one they dealt away quite some time ago but have managed to re-acquire.
In order to complete an offer sheet, teams must use their own third round draft pick.
The Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars and others all space cap scrutiny this upcoming off-season and may not be able to bid as high as the Chicago Blackhawks within re-signing their own stars.
An offer sheet for Wyatt Johnston, a player for the Dallas Stars, could be worth around $72 million for an eight or nine-year deal.
Buckle up Blackhawks fans!
