The Chicago Blackhawks are gearing up for the regular season with an imminent trade underway that will alter their roster moving forward.
As the main goal of the summer for the Chicago Blackhawks has been contract negotiation talks with Connor Bedard in hopes to secure his longevity with the organization, it appears that a trade of his teammate will come beforehand.
According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Blackhawks are prepared to part ways with forward Lukas Reichel, their 2020 first-round 17th overall pick.
"Teams have been calling about Reichel and the Blackhawks have been listening", "Chicago is looking to package assets for immediate upgrades"
Edmonton Oilers linked to acquiring Chicago Blackhawks forward Lukas Reichel
According to The Hockey News, the Edmonton Oilers are a suitor for Reichel after they lost forward Corey Perry and Viktor Arvidsson this summer.
Oilers general manager Stan Bowman drafted Reichel in his final summer of being the Blackhawks' general manager in 2020 before being fired, so clearly he thinks of the young forward very highly.
Reichel seems like the kind of player who could possibly catch a groove and find his game with a fresh franchise, which may sting the Blackhawks. But at this point, after countless opportunities high in the lineup, it's needed.
