Former Blackhawk Marc-Andre Fleury is set to make this milestone in 2024-2025
Former Blackhawk goalie Marc-Andre Fleury could set this milestone in 2024-2025 if he can tie Martin Brodeur for opening night starts in the NHL.
As it stands right now, Martin Brodeur is leading the way in this stat with 10 wins and starts in 18 opening-night games played.
Fleury would have to lead the Minnesota Wild past the Columbus Blue Jackets to start 11, in 18 games played, and is currently 10-7-0 in his past opening night starts.
Just winning one game against the Blue Jackets would put him past another legendary NHL Goalie Martin Brodeur.
If he cements the victory of the Blue Jackets with a shutout, he can also tie Glenn Hall with 3 shutouts in 11 GP, and Jacques Plante with 3 shutouts in 12 GP as well, for a shutout during opening night starts.
This could be an epic way for Marc-Andre Fleury to finish his final season with a poetic finish one the first game of the year.
* Minnesota goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is 10-7 in his team's season-opening games. Should he start and
backstop the Wild past the Blue Jackets on Oct. 10, he would surpass Curtis Joseph (10 in 13 GP) and Martin
Brodeur (10 in 18 GP) for the most such wins in NHL history. Should Fleury - the second-winningest goaltender
in NHL history - register a shutout in that contest, he would tie Glenn Hall (3 SO in 11 GP) and Jacques Plante
(3 SO in 12 GP) for the most in season-opening games in NHL history. More information on each note below is
available in the attached PDF.
