Former Blackhawks Alex DeBrincat has been an instrumental part of the Red Wings' success, and set a record against the Los Angeles Kings.
The Detroit Red Wings faced their Head Coach's former team, the Los Angeles Kings yesterday.
They outperformed, and outplayed the Kings, with Todd McLellan's help as he's been a big part of the team's recent turnaround.
Alex DeBrincat was a vital part of the Red Wings offense that night, as he would score a power-play goal at 6:03 in the 2nd period.
DeBrincat would set a record for the team, as he notched the team's 20th power-play goal during the season for the Wings.
This marked the Red Wings' twentieth goal under new Head Coach Todd McLellan since December 27th.
This total is the most among all NHL teams during this period, which is amazing as the team is getting hot at the moment.
The Red Wings need their special teams to pick up the pace if they're to find a spot in the playoffs in the East.
They're currently 6th in the Atlantic Division, with a record of 24-21-5, and DeBrincat could be a key player to change their fate in the NHL.
DeBrincat has played 50 games this season for the Red Wings, recording 39 points (21 G, 18 A).
He has more than justified his $7.8 million salary this season as one of the Red Wings' best forwards.
