Friedman had published his 32 Thoughts prior to the beginning of the season, and he revealed that Davidson was working hard to attempt to acquire Guentzel as he wanted to take the team to the next level and give budding superstar Connor Bedard a high-quality forward who would augment their offence and give significant numbers for both players.
Guentzel ended up choosing the Tampa Bay Lightning as he chases for another cup with the aging Lightning.
Instead, the Blackhawks chose to add several players with the cap space they had which included Tyler Bertuzzi, Ilya Mikheyev, Teuvo Teravainen Alec Martinez and TJ Brodie. Davidson felt that this would round out the roster which included the return of Taylor Hall and the captaincy of Nick Foligno.
It appears the opening games of the season have not gone well for the Blackhawks as the team continues to work towards improving their situation and learning to play together as the team has added so many new faces.
It will be a challenge for head coach Luke Richardson along with his staff to have all players work together and learn each others' tendencies as the team seeks to figure out how to exit the bottom of the standings and begin the job of becoming a playoff contender soon.
The Blackhawks next game will be on the road and will take place against the Winnipeg Jets as the game will be on October 11th and puck drop will be 8:00 PM eastern.
