The Chicago Blackhawks are playing in the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase, and they have decided which of their young prospects will be wearing the "C" on his sweater for the games.

That honour has gone to defenseman Sam Rinzel, taken 25th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
Rinzel was drafted while playing for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL, and later played collegiately for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. He got 9 games of NHL experience with the Blackhawks last year and had 5 assists, showing potential.
His scouting report via Elite Prospects reads as follows:
A projectable, top-arm flared release, combined with synced weight-transfer and an immense amount of downforce, Rinzel has all the mechanics to be a shooting force on the blue line. Combine that with angle-changing inward drags, high placements, and a penchant to eat up available space, all while pushing free range activations, the dominance that permeated across his game created significant intrigue across the Elite Prospects scouting team.
Former Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is now with the Jets
The Blackhawks told longtime captain Jonathan Toews, who led the team to 3 Stanley Cups earlier in his career, that he wasn't going to be re-signed in 2023.
He's missed the last 2 full seasons because of symptoms of Long-COVID, but he has since made a return to the NHL and has signed a 1 year deal with the Winnipeg Jets, his hometown team.
The current captain of the Blackhawks in the NHL is Nick Foligno, but for how much longer remains to be seen.
