The Chicago Blackhawks' team name is once again trending, this time for the wrong reasons.
For fans and others who don't know, the Blackhawks team name is out of respect of many individuals and it has a deep meaning.
US Army division: The 86th Infantry Division of the US Army was nicknamed the "Blackhawk Division" after Black Hawk. The Chicago Blackhawks hockey team was named after this division by the team's founder, Frederic McLaughlin.
Native American chief: Black Hawk was a Sauk leader who fought in the War of 1812 and the Black Hawk War of 1832. His name, which means "to be a large hawk", was given to him by his father. Black Hawk's story was one of the first to receive national acclaim for its account of Native American experiences with US expansion.
