Chicago Blackhawks forward heads to the Detroit Red Wings in beneficial trade pitch
In an intriguing trade proposal, the Chicago Blackhawks and Kyle Davidson trade Lukas Reichel to the Detroit Red Wings.
The Chicago Blackhawks are one team whose rebuild isn't finished.
They could stand to accumulate more assets and could do so
by trading a former 1st-round pick to the Detroit Red Wings.
By helping the Red Wings out with holes in their lineup in the top and bottom six, they could send Lukas Reichel to Hockeytown.
The trade proposal from
Heavy.com sees the Blackhawks benefit from the deal by gaining trade picks in return for the former 17th overall pick in 2020.
Red Wings Get:
Lukas Reichel
Blackhawks Get:
2026 Second-Round Pick
2028 Fourth-Round Pick
The Blackhawks would stack on more draft picks for a deep 2026 draft class while giving Reichel a fresh start in 2025-26.
Last season, the forward saw limited usage and was even a scratch at one point.
Reichel's linemate and
mentor, Pat Maroon, failed to help him achieve the kind of success he needed to stick around in Chicago long-term.
The German forward's name has been mentioned in trade rumors this postseason.
«I just think it's a name (Reichel) that's out there,» Friedman said. «I think it's understood that the Blackhawks are willing to make the move if they find a trade partner, and I think the player understands it might be time too.»
This could be a win-win for both the Blackhawks and Lukas Reichel, as he gets a fresh start under Todd McLellan, and Kyle Davidson gets assets in return to draft or trade with.
