Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers complete a trade today in hockey history

Six teams will celebrate their Centennial seasons this year, including the New York Rangers and the Chicago Blackhawks.

A lot has happened over the past 100 years of hockey history, and while the biggest moves are the ones that we still talk about today, some smaller ones don't really make headlines.

75 years ago today, a trade between the two teams went down.

On September 19, 1950, the Chicago Blackhawks general manager Bill Tobin agreed to the terms of a trade with the New York Rangers.

The Hawks acquired Steve Hrymnak from the Rangers for cash compensation.

Hrymnak only took part in 18 NHL games in his career, all with the Chicago Blackhawks.

In those games, he tallied two goals and one assist, as well as four penalty minutes.

He spent most of his career in the AHL, playing for defunct teams like the New Haven Ramblers and St. Louis Flyers, as well as in the WHL with the New Westminster Royals and the Edmonton Flyers, where he won a championship during the 1954-55 season.

Hrymnak passed away in 2015 at 89 years old. He is remembered for his hockey career but also for his time in the Canadian Armed Forces.

As the Hawks look to reach another level in their rebuild this season, stories like Hrymnak's are a great reminder of what it means to wear the Hawks jersey.
