Chicago Blackhawks prospect Anton Frondell, who was taken with the third overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, continues his hot streak playing internationally in Sweden before he eventually joins the Blackhawks.
Even though the Chicago Blackhawks have been at or near the NHL's basement in each of the last three years, they've gotten three straight top-3 picks out of it, starting with 2023 1st overall pick Connor Bedard.
They are feeling very excited about the possibilities of what Swedish forward Anton Frondell, who was taken with the 3rd overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, can eventually accomplish when he plays in North America.
Right now, he's playing in his native Sweden and is on the U-20 team that skated in an exhibition match against Slovakia and scored twice.
Anton Frondell Was Taken With the 3rd Overall Pick In The 2025 NHL Entry Draft
The Blackhawks took Frondell with the third overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, and as he would explain during their development camp over the summer, playing in the NHL is a dream of his.
"My dream is to play in the NHL. I want to do it as soon as possible. So if I get a chance to be at the camp, fighting for a spot on the team, that's my dream, that's what I want to do. If I don't make it, I'm going back to play with Djurgarden."
So far this year with Djurgardens IF, Frondell has 12 points (8G, 4A) in 17 games. He could very well make the jump to North America starting as early as next season, and the sky is the limit from that point on.
