The Chicago Blackhawks and Jeff Blashill are in a great spot during the 2025-26 season, as Connor Bedard, like his team, is poised to improve after last season's performance by a substantial amount.
The Original-Six team has begun the year with a record of 5-4-2 and is 5th in the Central Division.
This is the opposite of how the team ended 2024-25, as bottom-dwellers, leading to the drafting of center
Anton Frondell with their third overall selection.
Now under Jeff Blashill, the team has looked energetic on the ice and has given the prospects plenty of agency to play their game.
The Chicago Blackhawks Under Connor Bedard's Leadership
Despite their loss to the Winnipeg Jets last night, the team played a full 60 minutes, with Connor Bedard leading the way.
Bedard's
production has skyrocketed under Blashill, as he's posted 14 points in 11 games, after adding 2 points from last night's game (2A).
This has set his pace to eclipse his 61-point total from last year (22-39).
He's on pace to score 104 points if he continues at this rate.
Connor Bedard Is Set For a 104-point Pace
If Bedard does end up scoring over 90 points this season, it suggests that the former 1st-overall pick of the Blackhawks has "arrived".
Going over 90 points would suggest that he has arrived as a top player in the game. Breaking 100? Now we're talking about a superstar that you build the team around.
The Blackhawks and Bedard will certainly be tested when they take on the Edmonton Oilers (5-4-3) at the beginning of a five-game road trip.
We'll see his wherewithal and his resilience against a superstar duo of
Leon Draisaitl and
Connor McDavid, who have been Stanley Cup contenders the last two seasons.
