The team has signed him to a one-year, two-way, deal where he will earn $800K in the NHL, and $350K In the AHL, with the Wranglers.
Jarred Tinordi, the 32-year-old defenseman has proven to be a journeyman during his career in the NHL after being drafted by the Canadiens in 2010.
The 7th D and oft-used minor-leaguer has played for the Blackhawks, Bruins, Coyotes, Penguins, Predators, and Rangers during his 12-year career. He isn't a stranger to time in the AHL either.
Tinordi's career was offered some stability by being claimed off of waivers by the Blackhawks in 2022-2023 from the Rangers. The 6'6" 229LB bruiser found a spot in the NHL since the team has made the best of his time in Chicago and spent the last two years in the NHL, the first since he split time between the majors and minors in both Boston and Nashville in 2020-2021.
Tinordi's numbers haven't been what the team wanted, but given he was a bottom-pairing defenseman on one of the worst teams in the NHL, he didn't fare so well. Posting 17 points( 2 G, 15 A) -44, and 104 PIMs in 96 games with the team. He ranked second on the team in hits with 171, right behind Nick Foligno's 192.
He ended up being a UFA since he signed in New York during the 2021 offseason, where he signed a two-year deal. Chicago would sign him to a one-year, $1.25 Million dollar deal and could make the opening night roster.
That does depend if the team decides to roll with seven defensemen, however, he'll have to compete with Jake Bean and Kevin Bahl for spots on the left side.
He'll likely end up on waivers, and spend his time in the AHL mentoring Wranglers defenseman like Hunter Brzustewicz, Artem Grushnikov, and Yan Kuznetsov.
