The Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks made a trade earlier in the year which saw depth center, Rem Pitlick dealt to the Blackhawks.
The trade had a conditional draft pick that the Penguins would receive if Pitlick met the criteria for the team.
However, since the trade has been completed today, as the season slowly but surely comes to a close, the Penguins are a bit lighter.
They're light not only, Pitlick's salary, which is currently $1.1 Million with an expiry status as a UFA at the end of the season.
Pitlick needed to play 30 games with the Blackhawks, in order for the Penguins to receive a 2026 7th-round pick for the forward.
Pitlick however, only played 9 games in the NHL this season with the Blackhawks, due to the roster being devastated by injuries.
Therefore, Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks will keep their 7th-round pick and the Penguins have more or less completed a salary cap dump.
Pitlick has played 36 games in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs this season posting 26 points(10 G, 16 A), with 12 PIMS and a plus-minus of +9.
