The hockey community mourns the loss of 19-year-old prodigy after tragic accident in Ibiza

We regret to announce the passing of Scottish National League forward, Gary Kelly (of the Aberdeen Lynx), who passed away after a tragic accident in Ibiza.
The international hockey community is in mourning, as we regret to announce the passing of Gary Kelly at the young age of 19.
Kelly was on a trip in Ibiza, Spain, staying at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, where he would tragically fall to his death from the balcony at the hotel.
Kelly's tragic passing has caused the Ibiza Rocks Hotel to suspend all events until an investigation is concluded into the fall of the Scottish hockey player.
Beginnings & Present Day Career of Kelly
He began his hockey career with the Dundee Stars ice hockey team and was a roster player for the Aberdeen Lynx.
Kelly was a consistent contributor in the lineup, scoring 75 points (44-31) in 54 games for the Lynx this past season, during his 2022-23 debut at the U17 level.
Kelly would later return to the Stars, signing a deal, and would play two games for the team. While he'd later re-sign with the Lynx as well.
Both teams would show their support for Kelly:
«We send our thoughts and condolences to Gary's family, partner, and all his friends at this extremely difficult time,» wrote a spokesperson for the Stars.
In a written statement, the Lynx added: «Gary was more than just a talented hockey player - he was a young man full of heart, passion, and dedication.
It's another case of unexpected tragedy where Kelly would fall to his death on holiday.
Gary's passing leaves a void in a bourgeoning sport on the British Isles, where hockey isn't the most popular sport, but it is growing.
