Iserlohn Roosters not resigning Nick Ritchie making him a UFA
Nick Ritchie, the 2014 tenth overall pick, played in Finland and Germany after his stint overseas. However, he is now set to become an unrestricted free agent.
According to HockeyWorldwide, Nick Ritchie won't be coming back to the Iserlohn Roosters of the German DEL next season, which makes him a UFA.
"The Iserlohn #Roosters have announced that they will not be bringing back forward Nick Ritchie. He will become a free agent." HockeyWorldwide stated in a post on Instagram
Nick Ritchie started the season by trying to earn an NHL contract. He was invited by the St. Louis Blues to their training camp on a PTO but was released halfway through the camp. Two months after being released by the Blues, Ritchie found a new home in Karpat, who play in Finland's top division, Liiga.
However, his time with Karpat wasn't successful. Ten games into his time in Finland, Ritchie received an eight-game suspension for repeatedly punching a defenseless opponent. When Ritchie was eligible to return to Karpat's lineup, the team asked him to seek other opportunities, and he ultimately found his way to Germany for an eight-game stint with Iserlohn.
During his ten games with Karpat, Ritchie had five points (one goal, four assists), 70 penalty minutes, and was a minus-seven. Meanwhile, in eight games for Iserlohn, the 28-year-old had two points (one goal, one assist), eight penalty minutes, and was a minus-four.
