Amur Khabarovsk would release a statement regarding the loss of their coach afterward.
His name will forever remain in the history of our club, and the years of his work in the team will be remembered as a period of bright victories and unforgettable emotions.
Martemyanov was a product of the revolutionary style of hockey developed by the Soviet Union from the 70s-80s, which led to dominant performances in international competition.
Unlike many of his counterparts, he wouldn't find a home in the NHL later in his life, but would stick at home with the KHL, and the Soviet Championship League, where he'd win it all in 1984 with HC CSKA Moscow.
Martemyanov would win the 1989 Winter Universiada with the Soviet Union, which took place in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Following his playing career, Martemyanov would begin coaching, most notably as the head coach of Amur Khabarovsk 🇷🇺 (2016-2018, 2023-2024), Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg 🇷🇺 (2018-2020), and Sibir Novosibirsk 🇷🇺 (2021-2023) in the KHL.
We send our deepest condolences to the Martemyanov family, friends, and his colleagues in the hockey world.
