In a surprising move, the Edmonton Oilers have put veteran forward Sam Gagner on waivers. Despite his experience, the 34-year-old has struggled this season, scoring only five goals and 10 points in 27 games with the Oilers.
This is Gagner's third time with the team, but it seems he hasn't performed as expected this time around. If he clears waivers, he'll likely be sent to the Oilers' AHL team, the Bakersfield Condors.
But Gagner isn't the only one on waivers today. It's been a busy day in the NHL, with four other players also on waivers, mostly from Western Conference teams.
The players waived include Guillaume Brisebois from the Canucks, Vinni Lettieri and Jacob Lucchini from the Wild, and Max Comtois from the Ducks.
With several notable names on waivers, there's speculation about possible moves in the next few days with the Mach 8th trade deadline approaching. As teams prepare for the trade deadline, there could be more action on the waiver wire soon.
