The life of a professional hockey player isn't always easy, always having a camera on them and with social media they have almost zero privacy. For many of the players they have had no help when it comes to substance abuse or addiction.

For many years NHL players had to do their best to hide their issues when it comes to substance abuse in the NHL. As the players are suppose to be role models and are not ''supposed to'' have the same struggles as you or myself, which is false- everyone struggles, even hockey players.

It may start with either drinks after games or pain medications to help with a nagging injury before they know it they are dealing with substance abuse and alcohol or drug addictions.

It's been kept as more of a hush hush thing until Montreal Canadiens Carey Price would come out and admit he had a substance abuse problem that he seeked help for.

Since then we have seen more cases of players coming forward including Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron. After seeking help from the NHLPA's Substance Abuse Program today the NHL has announced McCarron has been reinstated by the NHL and the NHLPA.
