Report - Patrick Kane's next destination could involve the Montreal Canadiens
The Patrick Kane situation is coming to an end, and soon we'll know where he's signing.
TSN analyst Darren Dreger just listed the eight teams still in the running for Kane: FLA, BUF, COL, DAL, DET, VGK, TOR, and NYR. It's going to be interesting to see what happens.
Many teams from the Montreal Canadiens' division are in the mix. Keep in mind that Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes could play a huge role in this because these teams looking to sign Kane will probably need to make a trade first to open up salary cap space.
This is where the Canadiens and their nearly 5 million dollars of available cap space could play a role. For instance, the Toronto Maple Leafs might trade a bad contract and a first-round pick to the Montreal Canadiens to make room for signing Kane.
Update: According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, who reports on NHL Network, the top three teams among the eight favorites to sign Kane are the Florida Panthers, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Buffalo Sabres.
This is a significant development in the NHL, and Friedman confirms these three teams as the main contenders in the Patrick Kane situation.
