Update: Corey Perry kicked off the Blackhawks and his teammates have no idea why
A major decision has been made between the Chicago Blackhawks and Corey Perry, reports indicate.
Rather than being a player-driven decision, the organization has chosen to separate from the player.
The Athletic's Mark Lazerus reports on the latest developments.
In addition to being scratched last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Corey Perry was not on the ice for the morning practice as well.
Corey Perry, who was scratched last night as a mysterious "organizational" decision, is not on the ice for Blackhawks practice.
The situation is ominous for an organization that has had front-office problems in the past.
"I just wanted to start by saying I know you have questions about Corey Perry not playing last night and attending practice today but we're going to keep that internal in the organization right now. I'm not going to be able to answer any more questions on that."
- Luke Richardson
At this point, head coach Luke Richardson is mum on the reason for the separation as it is an internal decision.
At the moment, even teammates are unsure of the cause of Perry's separation. Does it spell doom for Perry's NHL future?
From veteran teammate Nick Foligno:
«We just know he's not with us. Haven't gotten any details. It's unfortunate; he's a big part of this. We'll miss him.»
- Nick Foligno Besides this news, the Blackhawks also learned that Taylor Hall will miss the remainder of the season.
Tough breaks for a rebuilding organization.
