Referee Receives One-Year Suspension After Injuring a 17 Year Old Hockey Player
Throughout the last few years we have sadly seen an uprising trend in altercations between players and referees. A lot of the videos coming from all over the world but one country seems to have a new trending altercation once a week, and that is Russia.
A Russian referee injured a seventeen year old boy by the name of Alexander Cherenkov, and has been suspended for the rest of the 2022-23 season. The referee was caught on camera slew-footing the seventeen year old Cherenkov which resulted in his head smashing the ice, and parents were not having it.
Is a one-year ban from refereeing a fair punishment, or should he be permanently banned from refereeing hockey?
