The Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler underwent groin surgery on Friday and will be out for AT LEAST one month. Wheeler, who has nine goals and seventeen assists through 29 games this season, has been the Jets' anchor throughout their unexpected success.
Despite the Jets' most recent victory over the Predators in Nashville, it was followed by a challenging loss. Wheeler missed the second period after blocking a shot with his groin, he returned for the third period, and won the game 2-1 in overtime.
Not only that, but defenseman Nate Schmidt, who was hurt during the same game as Wheeler, is also out and will be out for at least four to six weeks.
