It appears that catastrophic injuries have been following former Blackhawks forward Kirby Dach throughout his brief NHL career. Many hockey fans can recall the gruesome injury he sustained to his wrist when Canada was playing against the Russians in the World Junior Championship warm-up game in 2021.
The sight of his wrist, as seen in X-rays and pictures after the game, was undoubtedly unsettling for many, as the scene was painful to witness. After undergoing surgery to repair his wrist, numerous questions arose about whether he could return to playing hockey. To everyone's relief, he did make a comeback.
The Hawks drafted Dach and he played three seasons with them before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens. Canadiens' President Jeff Gorton believed he would have a significant impact on the team. In his first year with the Canadiens, Dach had a modest performance as the team was in the early stages of rebuilding and had high hopes for the future.
The storyline behind this year's injury is quite intriguing. Former Montreal Canadiens defenseman
Jarred Tinordi, who now plays for the Blackhawks, collided with Dach, sending him crashing into the Chicago bench. Unfortunately, Dach had to leave the game and did not return.
Later on, it was revealed that Dach had suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his knee, which required months of recovery, effectively ruling him out for the entire season.
We would like to extend our best wishes to Kirby for a speedy recovery.
