Many players and pundits say goaltending is the backbone of any hockey team. No matter how you cut it, you could have all the scoring in the world or great defence. Having a legitimate #1 starting goaltender who can steal a game or two for you when your team isn't playing very well is second to none.

Over the years, the Blackhawks have had some of the greatest goaltenders in the game. Tony Esposito, Ed Belfour and Dominik Hasek, to name a few.

This year's current edition of the Blackhawks goaltending certainly was not their strong suit if not their worst spot. The tandem of Petr Mrazek and Alex Stalock helps guarantee the Blackhawks the number one overall pick.

It appears that general manager Kyle Davidson feels the Blackhawks' goaltending position is OK and his books and he felt that he doesn't need to chase another goalie or add one at this time.

The Blackhawks also have Drew Commesso, a second-round draft pick in 2020 who is 20 years old. There's a chance that he will make the lineup in the next year or two as the Hawks want to continue building their new team through the draft and trades.

At Boston University this year, Commesso played 34 games. He had a goals-against average of 2.46 and a save percentage of .913.
