In his third season with the Chicago Blackhawks, Hagel has had yet another impressive season ranking top 5 in points for his team with 9 goals,15 assists and 24 points in 52 games played.

It's not a surprise that his name has surfaced frequently considering the trade deadline coming up and trade rumors. Like most players, Hagel tries to not pay much attention to them, but it's practically impossible nowadays.

Brandon Hagel on trade rumors and the reported high asking price for him : "Seeing what they want for me, you've got to take that as a compliment, no? I mean, come on. I was a sixth-rounder they want that? I'll take that any day."

"I've seen it all, obviously," Hagel said after practice on Tuesday. "It's been going on for a little bit, my name's been popping up. It's one of those things, it's a business. It is what it is. I can't change what happens, I can't change what people are going to offer, I can't do anything about it. So it's one of those things where I just keep playing."

He is obviously a very important piece to this Blackhawks team, interim head coach Derek King had a few words about Hagel's potential trade rumors. Lets just say he seemed very surprised.

"He better not be," King said. "Hags has to stay here. I mean, that's me. You've got to do what's right for the organization and what's right for the team, but Hagel is a big part of this organization. He's a good hockey player that you want to keep on your team."

He's also still 23 years old, still in the first year of the three year entry contract with a very affordable $1.5 million he signed last summer. These are some of the main reasons he's a target to so a lot of teams.
