It's crazy to look at the Chicago Blackhawks roster now to compared even one year ago, Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson has ripped this team apart to try to build something better.

One of the biggest trades was in the summer when the Davidson traded star forward Alex DeBrincat to the Senators for three draft picks.

DeBrincat back after the trade had this to say with Sportsnet:

"The immediate reaction was just shock," DeBrincat said Friday. "I saw some rumors and stuff but until it actually happens, it doesn't really hit you. So, I was definitely shocked. But now I'm really excited to join this group. Obviously, a young core that's ready to compete, to play in the playoffs, hopefully a good team and win some games this year turn in the right direction. I'm happy to be a part of that."

DeBrincat had 78 points in 82 games last season leading the Blackhawks with 41 goals to tie his NHL career high set in 2018-19.

Now thriving with Ottawa Senators who are competing for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference would reveal something with Blackhawks Insider Charlie Roumeliotis.

Debrincat looking back on his trade to Ottawa he never expected to be traded thinking he would be a Chicago Blackhawk forever:

Alex DeBrincat: "I thought I was going to be a Blackhawk forever. Obviously didn't turn out that way. Everything happens for a reason. When I heard I was going to the Senators ... I knew it was going to be a lot of fun to play hockey here." #Blackhawks

It definitely sucks losing a player like Debrincat in Chicago but it's probably for the best since we're along way from being a playoff team you don't want to waste a player of Debrincat's caliber in his prime on a rebuild.
