NHL confirms major announcement between the Chicago Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens and we have a date

The NHL and the Blackhawks have revealed their opponent for their home-opening game of the season at the United Center on October 11th, and it's no other than their Original Six rivals, the Montreal Canadiens.

It is set to be an electric atmosphere with two of the most exciting and rich fan bases in hockey, as well as a Connor Bedard vs Ivan Demidov, who scored his first NHL goal in his first game against the Blackhawks this past season.

The Canadiens have their own blend of youth, including Nick Suzuki and Cole Caulfield, who will face off against Chicago's duo of Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar.

Both teams have combined for 30 Stanley Cups in their existence in the league; Montreal has 24, and Chicago has 6.

With Bedard and the Blackhawks being the clear underdogs against the Canadiens and their revamped lineup, with the addition of Noah Dobson from the New York Islanders, it's an opportunity to set the tone for the season with a win.

In goal, expect to see a matchup of 28-year-old Sam Montembeault of the Montreal Canadiens against 24-year-old Spencer Knight of the Chicago Blackhawks.
