Milan Lucic went through legal issues which set back his NHL career with the Boston Bruins in 2024, now the former Chicago Blackhawks rival has found himself back on the path to return, thanks to the NHLPA.

Milan Lucic is a former Stanley Cup Champion with the Boston Bruins in 2011. Despite his best efforts, he would hit rock bottom in 2024 and would end up in the NHLPA Players Assistance Program.
He would be placed on an indefinite leave of absence by the Bruins, as he'd have to face legal charges stemming from a DV accusation from his wife, Brittany.
However, it seems like his time away from the game has paid off, as Brittany has made a heartfelt and emotional post about him on Father's Day, suggesting he's turned his life around.
It seems that the NHL/NHLPA Players Assistance program has helped Lucic attain sobriety and a return to his loving family.
«The greatest gift you have given our children is the gift of your sobriety -the ability to experience life through a cleaner, more grounded perspective. You have always been present for them, and now, even more so,» she wrote.

With this news, NHL fans were speculating whether or not he'd find himself back in the good graces of the NHL. Could he make a return?
Lucic played 1,177 games in the NHL, split between the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Los Angeles Kings, and Boston Bruins. He has one Stanley Cup to his name.

Family and Sobriety

Lucic and Brittany have been married since 2012, and have three children together: Valentina, Nikolina, and Milan Jr.
For the Lucic family, sobriety is a gift as they experience a return to normalcy not seen after his meltdown and eventual arrest.

A return?

While a return to the NHL might be desirable for Milan Lucic, for now, it may be best for him to experience a significant amount of time away from the game in order to re-establish bonds with his family, which may have been broken.
