With Alex Vlasic back from his injury, the Blackhawks had to decide on who to send back down to the AHL, and it was Ethan Del Mastro.

However, many people believe it should've been Artyom Levshunov, and they're correct. Granted, he had his fair share of mishaps in the six preseason games, but as of right now, it can't hurt to give him a look-he may be more NHL-ready than Levshuov is at this point.

Artyom Levshunov has had a rough season start

Levshunov has had a real rough start to the season so far, not looking great in the preseason or the first two games of the regular season against the Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins.
Against the Panthers in the season opener, he turned the puck over in the neutral zone, failed to keep the puck in the zone and keep Florida hemmed in, and was overall just out of position for the entire first period. In the second period, he shaped up and had an okay third, where the Hawks would fall 3-2.
The game vs. the Bruins was the same trend.
About halfway through the first period, Viktor Arvidsson made Levshunov look like a fool and dangled right through him, leading to a goal from Casey Mittelstadt.
Later on in the game, during the third period, when the Blackhawks needed a goal, Artyom was in the right spot at the right time and made a quick pass to Andre Burakovsky, who ripped one past Joonas Korpisalo for his first goal of the year. Levshunov was rewarded with the primary assist and his first point as well.
Levshunov has shown a couple of positive traits, but, unfortunately, the negative traits outshine the positive ones because they're more glaring and important. Twice this season he's committed a penalty and stopped mid-play and had to be reminded that the whistle didn't blow and that he had to keep going.
Wyatt Kaiser has been great this season in relaying information to Arty-the on-ice microphones sometimes pick it up-Kaiser's communication has been top-notch.
Yes, Levshunov is only 19 years old, but this is the NHL. Clearly, he's not 100% ready, so why rush him and risk hindering his development in a season that doesn't mean much?
There's no shame in needing some extra time down in Rockford; he might even benefit from it too.
