Chicago Blackhawks reportedly set to trade 25-year-old goaltender to the Edmonton Oilers
The Chicago Blackhawks are reportedly on the verge of completing a trade involving a goaltender.
With training camp approaching fast, Kyle Davidson will have tough decisions to make about his goaltender unit. With four signed players ahead of the next season, with one more who filed for salary arbitration, many fans and analysts believe someone could end up being traded.
According to multiple reports, the Blackhawks could be looking to deal one of their goalies, and all signs point to the Edmonton Oilers as a leading candidate to make a move.
Enter Chicago, a team with four goalies under contract, and one who filed for salary arbitration, all of whom could be healthy by training camp.
That addition only intensifies speculation, especially with
Arvid Soderblom filing for salary arbitration. The 25-year-old Swede is likely in the NHL mix, leaving even fewer open spots.

Then there's
Drew Commesso, who impressed in the AHL with Rockford, posting a .911 save percentage in 39 games. He made his NHL debut last season, but will have a lot to prove in the upcoming camp if he wants to start the season in the NHL.
With
Spencer Knight projected as the team's starter, Soderblom as number two (if he agrees on the terms of a deal in Chicago), Commesso and Berezhnoy splitting the AHL crease, Brossoit could end up being the odd man out.
With a year left on his $3,300,000 AAV deal, and many organizations looking for a goalie, Brossoit could be an interesting target on the trade market.
Drafted in the sixth round of the 2011 Draft by the Calgary Flames, Brossoit, 32, took part in 140 NHL games over his career. He played for the Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets and Vegas Golden Knights, where he won the Stanley Cup in 2023.
