A trade was completed between the Chicago Blackhawks and the New York Islanders involving a four-time Stanley Cup champion today in hockey history.

The New York Islanders in the 1980s were arguably the best team of the decade in the NHL. Led by Brian Trottier, Mike Bossy, and Clark Gillies, the team won four straight Stanley Cups between 1980 and 1983.
In 1984, after their fourth win, the Islanders went back to the Stanley Cup Finals, but lost to the Edmonton Oilers. Later on, the team couldn't find the same rhythm, winning only two rounds and missing the playoffs once in the following eight seasons.
In 1987, the general manager at the time, Bill Torrey, decided to make some changes to his team in the hope of winning another Cup.

Duane Sutter, who was a big part of the Islanders' success in the 80s, was shipped to Chicago in return for a 2nd-round draft pick in 1988.
The third-oldest Sutter brother had an amazing NHL career, spanning from 1979 to 1990. He took part in 731 games, in which he scored 139 goals and 203 assists, while tallying 1,333 penalty minutes.
In a profile posted on NHL.com a few years ago, Sutter shared some thoughts on many interesting topics, such as how he got the nickname "Dog," his style, his accomplishments, and why he thinks the Islanders are the best sports team of the 80s:
"Let's face it. I got the nickname Dog because of the way I played; and because of the way I yapped. I figured that if I could get someone off his game with something I said, I was doing my job."

"I took my lumps for the club, which is why I know that I contributed to that win. I was asked to be a grinder and - most of the time but not all the time - I had no qualms about doing what Radar asked of me."

"When I look back at our accomplishments; four straight Cups, 19 straight playoff series wins, I come to one conclusion. Our Islanders teams could be considered THE Team of the Eighties in professional sports."

Sutter went on to play in three seasons with the Blackhawks. After his playing career, he became a coach, serving for six seasons behind the Florida Panthers' bench between 1995 and 2003.
