Chicago Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno has joined his father, Mike Foligno, in making NHL history, joining a club of father-son duos.

There have been numerous father-and-son duos in National Hockey League history, and the Chicago Blackhawks have half of that duo in captain Nick Foligno.
His father, Mike Foligno, played 15 years in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Buffalo Sabres, and Toronto Maple Leafs and had 727 career points (355 G, 372 A).
Nick Foligno is now the captain of the Blackhawks, and he recently reached 700 career points by having an assist in their recent 7-3 win against the Ottawa Senators at United Center.
So far this year, Foligno has 4 assists in 7 games.

Nick Foligno Is Playing In The Final Year Of His Contract

Foligno was taken with the 28th overall pick by the Ottawa Senators in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, and he would start his career with the franchise before he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2012 for Marc Methot.
He would eventually be named captain of the Blue Jackets and helped them to a shocking sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning, who had won the President's Trophy, in the 2019 ECQF.
Foligno was dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs, though his time with them was short; he signed a 2-year contract with the divisional foe Boston Bruins, where he would help them win an NHL record 65 games in 2022-23.
In 2023, he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks with Taylor Hall in exchange for Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula.
So far in 1,240 career NHL games, Foligno has 601 points (247 G, 354 A).
