Joel Quenneville, once a highly sought-after candidate for coaching positions in the NHL, now finds himself in a position of penance. Following the Kyle Beach incident, which sent shockwaves through the league and the Chicago Blackhawks organization, Quenneville resigned as the coach of the Florida Panthers in 2021.

Reports suggest that Quenneville has only fulfilled the minimum off-ice requirements set by the NHL to potentially be reinstated. However, it seems that these efforts have fallen short of what is expected for him to regain his coaching position.

In order to determine the next steps for his potential reinstatement, Quenneville had to meet with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. Unfortunately, it appears that his off-time activities have not been sufficient for the league to consider him for a coaching position elsewhere.

Quenneville, who achieved multiple Stanley Cup victories in Chicago and was coaching the Florida Panthers at the time of the incident, faced severe consequences after it was revealed that Kyle Beach had been sexually assaulted by Brad Aldrich. Now, Coach Q must focus on self-improvement while awaiting a meeting with Bettman once the season concludes to assess his standing in the league.

Quenneville has reportedly only done the off-ice work that the NHL has urged him to do, and "not enough" to be re-instated.
