Sebastian Aho to conceivably receive a major suspension following injuring hit on Sam Reinhart
Sebastian Aho isn't typically a name you'd hear penalized for a dirty play. But today he should've been and should be suspended.
During Game 2 against the
Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals, Aho decided to lean into a dirty hit on Reinhart.
He'd to try blow him up, going backwards but instead would clip him at his knee and cause Reinhart to head back to the locker room, with a possible injury.
Not a good look for the Finnish forward, who wouldn't be able to defend himself after gooning it up with this play.
The
Hurricanes must be frustrated, as Paul Maurice's Panthers are running the team roughshod. The Panthers are in the lead in the series, and in the 2nd period are already looking at a shutout, 3-0.
It's pretty telling that Rod Brind'Amour's Canes are frustrated and acting out on the ice as the Panthers tear them apart, as they do any other opponent.
In Game 1 of the ECF, the Panthers won 5-2 in a decisive victory.
Aho would only score a goal last game, and would be held to six shots, three of which were blocked, 2 PIMs, and 1 giveaway.
Is it purely frustration, or retribution because they can't hold their own against a better team?
Either way, the hit to the knee deserves some serious examination, and if the Department of Player Safety chooses to have an in-person hearing with the Finn, we'd expect a suspension.
