Capitals star Alex Ovechkin confirms he's leaving the NHL for Russia
It's confirmed for Alex Ovechkin and he's leaving the NHL
Washington Capitals forward
Alexander Ovechkin has confirmed that he will be ending his career in Russia, at some point leaving the NHL to play for his hometown team, Dynamo Moskva.
Everyone is quite aware that 'The Great Eight' is chasing 'The Great One' and his legendary NHL goal record for the most goals scored all-time.
Ovechkin is under contract until the 2026-27 season with his whopping $9.5M deal, and that may be the perfect time for Ovechkin to escape the NHL, as he hopes.
A former coach of the team that Ovechkin will join once he's done in the NHL, Vladimir Fedosov, shared a statement:
'He said himself that he would finish his career in Dynamo... the white-and-blue fans can definitely sleep easy. If Alexander's health is good, he will be able to play until the age of 45.'
Ovechkin played with Dynamo Moskva before his NHL days as well as during the 2012-13 lockout.
At 38 years old, it's just a matter of time before Ovechkin returns 'home' to the KHL. It's not an 'if' situation, but a 'when'.
