There's a possibility we might have another Marian Hossa situation on our hands. While it's far from guaranteed, there's a chance that defenseman Brent Seabrook might never play again. He had some pretty heavy surgery done which will be followed by a long rehab, however Seabrook being the warrior he is might try and return to NHL action. If he doesn't, it's highly feasible he's placed on LTIR just like Marian Hossa was and it's possible his contract gets traded just like Hossa's was. NHL insider Frank Seravalli believes that the Toronto Maple Leafs will try and acquire a LTIR contract after Nathan Horton and David Clarkson's expire this offseason. Check it out:"Seabrook underwent right hip surgery in February, his third operation – including his left hip and right shoulder – in a span of two months. But talk to those close to Seabrook and his motivation to keep playing has not waned. He's told friends that he is moving as well as he ever has after connecting with a new trainer in the Chicago area. So, his inclusion on this list may well be premature. In fact, there is a chance Seabrook could be ready to return whenever the NHL does, especially if this pause drags on into August. Still, there has been no shortage of question marks about whether Seabrook will be able to continue after so much wear and tear. The Seabrook situation is going to definitely be an interesting story line to follow over the next couple of months.
