With the news of the young Sweden born defender refusing to attend training camp behind us, where might the Rangers 2021 first-round pick end up?

That's where this eastern conference team comes in, as a very intriuging option for the young defenseman. A NHL insider confirmed Canadiens GM Hughes has been on the phone all week to acquire another piece, which is likely to be Lundkvist.

Jeff Gorton has spades of knowledge about the Rangers - as he is their former GM, who just so happened to have selected Lundkvist in the draft.

So would the Rangers and Canadiens be ideal trade partners?

The Habs have lost two pillars on the right-side of their blueline, over the offseason. Petry and Weber's departures have left significant holes on the Habs right-side of their blueline. And while the Habs are retooling, Wideman, Savard and Barron? That isn't exactly a great top-three on the Habs right-side of the blueline.

Gorton has the familiarity, and a defenseman with the skillset of Lundkvist woukd be a huge addition to the Canadiens blueline. Especially considering where the young Swede is at in his development. Perhaps ahead of Barron, who is primed to crack the Canadiens roster, Lundkvist could give the Habs some flexibility and options, and the development talks have taken priority over winning games, which would allow the rearguard to play, without the thought of being harped on for mental mistakes, which young defenders are prone to.

What say you NHL fans, where might the Rangers 2021 NHL Draft selection end up? NHL? AHL? SHL?

Article to follow, when/if the Rangers do move Nils.
