"Guys. Sid is the f****** captain," said Evgeni Malkin, in the penguins locker room, cementing his belief in Crosby as the squads captain. Reports emerged in 2011 that the captaincy being restricted to Sid was questioned during a team meeting, but Malkin stated his thoughts towards the sentiment, and shut it down, before it could grow.

There were rumblings during Crosby's injury-riddled year, about whether or not he should remain captain, but his longtime teammate and friend Evgeni Malkin defended his captain.

Malkin, 36 and Crosby, 35, have played their entire careers together, drafted in 2004 and 2005 respectively. Both have had hall of fame careers, Crosby has played 18 seasons, spanning 1,108 games, posting 517 goals and 892 assists for 1,409 career points. Malkin has suited up for 17 seasons, playing 981 career games, scoring 444 goals and 702 assists for 1,146 career points.

The Penguins all star duo certainly command respect throughout any city they play in, and have immense respect for one another. What do you think of Malkin's gesture, leave a comment.
