The Bedard Family coming to grips with their new fame.
It's known that Connor Bedard will be the first choice overall in this year's NHL Entry Draft no matter which team would have selected him. The would-be phenom has been tearing it up through the Western Hockey League and giving everyone a treat and a sneak preview of what's to come during the World Juniors.
With that showcasing of his talent, it has drawn a number of fans to come to his parent's home either to wait for him to come out to get an autograph or to talk to his parents.
"There are very often people surrounding our house and waiting outside, then they photograph us as soon as we step outside. One day, someone even came through the back of our property, accessed the yard, and started screaming for Connor. And I would say that all this happens more frequently since the last Junior World Championship.
Recently, I had to turn off my cell phone for about ten days because I was receiving too many messages. It was uncontrollable! I've never been used to that, you know? And it's now almost impossible to go to the grocery store or the mall with Connor without being recognized."
The attention drawn to Bedard in his family is very similar to when someone wins the lottery of a large sum of money. People you have never met or have known will come out of the woodwork and ask for money or be around you as you are now a millionaire.
The Bedard family will realize how important their son will be to the Blackhawks organization as they attempt to rebuild their franchise and their team into a new image.
The NHL Entry Draft will be on June 28th and 29th, and all Blackhawks fans will be elated to see Bedard putting on their sweater.
