PATRICK KANE'S SURPRISE MOVE TO TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS WOULD SHOCK THE NHL
Three-time Stanley Cup Champion Patrick Kane is one of the most exciting free agents in the NHL Free Agency Rumor Mill.
There was rumor that the superstar was headed to Detroit, Florida, Toronto, and back to New York recently.
Shannon, an NHL Insider with deep ties to the league, reported Kane was in Oakville, Ontario training and meeting with teams, including the local Toronto Maple Leafs.
Seeing as Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs are still on the hunt for a Stanley Cup, any former Cup champion would not be too much for them, especially since they have been in talks recently.
They would have a great chance of winning a Stanley Cup if they were able to land Kane, but the question is what will Treliving be able to offer him?
If Kane agrees to sign for the league minimum with the Leafs, if not, he will sign somewhere else. Toronto has no cap space.
Do you think he would be a rental? Can he get a term contract? There are variables to consider, especially if he wants to stay in Toronto.
Other teams reportedly in the hunt for the superstar include the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, and notably, the Buffalo Sabres.
In Buffalo, he would not be a contender for a cup, so his options aren't completely limited.
Nonetheless, a move to Toronto would set the Atlantic Division and NHL ablaze, since they would undoubtedly become the team to beat.
