For 20 consecutive years, the Detroit Red Wings were the epitome of success and consistency. It was a foregone conclusion every season that the Detroit Red Wings would make it to the playoffs and embark on deep playoff runs.
After the 2015-2016 season concluded, something began to shift, and it seemed like the Red Wings were heading towards a major rebuild. Gone were the days of Steve Yzerman, Sergei Fedorov, Brendan Shanahan, and Nicklas Lidstrom, to name a few who had carried this team on their backs and brought many cheers to their fan base.
Fast forward to this year, and the Red Wings appeared to be emerging as potential playoff contenders after a significant overhaul during the summer. One player, in particular, was former Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat, who was traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Red Wings, where he signed a long-term deal.
Tonight, the Red Wings faced off against the New Jersey Devils. After a clever play, DeBrincat scored his first goal of the season.
