Marc-Andre Fleury confirms why he won't accept a trade to Washington
Marc-Andre Fleury was drafted 1st overall in 2003 by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played 12 seasons for the Penguins and was apart of many of the classic Crosby versus Ovechkin battles. That includes multiple playoff series against the Captials.
It's been shared openly that the Capitals have tried aggressively to acquire Fleury from the Blackhawks, but the veteran isn't interested in becoming a Capital. Fleury had to be convinced to come to Chicago this past summer, so he'll likely have his choice of where he goes this March.
Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff is now sharing that the reason Fleury is unwilling to accept the trade is because of the history he had with the Capitals. Fleury just wouldn't feel right playing for a former rival.
