St. Louis Blues goalie Jordan Binnington isn't just gunning for an NHL All-Star spot. He's thrown down the gauntlet for a unique showdown with fellow Ontarian and pop sensation Justin Bieber, a devoted Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
In Binnington's words, "It's been a few years, so I thought, why not take a shot? Getting into the All-Star game would be nice, but it's tough with the voting, so I'm giving it a try and seeing what happens."
Facing off against Bieber in Toronto adds an extra layer of excitement for Binnington, who said, "That would be cool. This one stands out, right, in Toronto. It would be a lot of fun."
This isn't the first time Binnington has challenged Bieber. He did so before the 2020 NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis. Binnington is optimistic, saying, "It's on. I know he's been skating [and] training for the event, so we'll see what comes of it."
Teammate Jake Neighbours added his thoughts, expressing doubt about Bieber's scoring abilities. "I don't think [Bieber would] score ... at all," Neighbours said. "I'd give him 20 attempts. Well, actually I don't know, I've never seen [Bieber] play. I think he'd go 100 percent, 'Binner' would. It would be impressive if Bieber scored on him, that's for sure, yeah. ... 'Binner' is pretty stone cold. I can barely score on him."
