For the past few years, the Detroit Red Wings haven't resembled the formidable team of their past. Prior to Steve Yzerman's return to the organization as the general manager, the Red Wings were perennial playoff contenders and a constant threat to their opponents.

However, they hit a historic low in terms of points and consecutive playoff misses.

I believe this is about to change, as the Red Wings seem poised to awaken from their slumber and become a force to be reckoned with. Yzerman has been steadily adding talent over the past two years, and with the addition of Alex DeBrincat, a former Blackhawks forward, to their top 6, the Red Wings have gained another scoring threat.

During a preseason game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, DeBrincat demonstrated his readiness to contribute to his new team by scoring a beautiful goal alongside Dylan Larkin and Shayne Gostisbehere.

Debrincat, Who was traded to the Red Wings after spending one season with the Ottawa Senators signed a new contract extension worth $31.5 million over 4 years.

The Red Wings emerged victorious in a close four to three victory. It's important to note that this was just a preseason game, the first of several for the Red Wings. Nevertheless, it's encouraging to see that the changes they've made appear to be paying off early on.
