Blackhawks Doug Wilson Comments on Playing Against Gordie Howe
Doug Wilson was one of the best defenseman within the era he played in, playing from 1977-1990 with the Chicago Blackhawks (14 total seasons) Wilson totalled 800 points in around 1,000 games played. He was never a big guy being 6 foot 1 190LBs, but he made sure to exceed his size and use it in different ways. Gordie on the other hand, would laugh if he could checking out Doug Wilsons stats; Gordie being a top 50 player if not top 10 to ever play the game of hockey, tallying up a whopping 1,700 games played with over 1,850 points including 1,060 assists.
WIlson tells a tail on Gordie Howe:
"He was one of those guys that if he was going to hit you, he was going to hit you, but the fact that he took the time to walk all the way around the arena; still to this day I can't believe it. It's what makes our game so great, to see people like that having compassion. Playing hard and playing tough, but caring about other people." Doug Wilson
