Rookie
Jack McBain was drafted 63rd overall by the Minnesota Wild back in 2018.
In his last season at Boston College he collected 19 goals, 14 assists in 24 games.
He recently signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Coyotes after the Wild traded him for a second round 2022 draft pick.
McBain made it clear that he didn't intend to sign with the Wild since there was a logjam at the center position.
That was all general manager Bill Armstrong needed to hear. Armstrong is in the thick of a rebuild and adding assets like McBain is on his to-do list.
In just his eighth game in a Coyotes uniform, he scored his first goal ironically against the team he declined to join. He helped the Coyotes defeat the Wild 5-3.
«Obviously I was with Minnesota, but they're an awesome franchise and they were always super good to me,» McBain said. «I'm super happy we could get that win. That was special.»
Phil Kessel was able to tally his career 399th goal into an empty net to end the Wild's 10-game winning streak.
Just think McBain only has 398 more goals to catch up to Kessel!
Standing 6'-4», 212 pounds, McBain seems to fit right into the rebuilding Coyotes. He has a bright future in the desert.
