Major: It's over for Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs
In a recent report by NHL insider Chris Johnston, it's revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs are not expecting their star forward Auston Matthews to take the ice tonight for Game 5.
Matthews, who has been battling illness, was sidelined during the third period of Saturday's Game 4 against the Boston Bruins.
Sources suggest that he is also dealing with an undisclosed injury, making it increasingly unlikely for him to participate in Tuesday's crucial game, especially with the Leafs trailing 3-1 in the series.
''BOSTON Auston Matthews is unlikely to be available to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night, according to a person briefed on the matter. Matthews has been battling an illness and was forced to sit out the third period of Saturday's Game 4 against the Boston Bruins. According to sources, he is also believed to be nursing an undisclosed injury, which made it more likely than not that he wouldn't be able to play Tuesday with the Leafs trailing 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. He appears to be doing everything he can to try and play.

Despite his efforts to recover and return to play, Matthews' availability remains uncertain as the Maple Leafs face a pivotal moment in the playoff series.
