The Chicago Blackhawks have added another promising talent to their roster with the signing of left-wing prospect Nick Lardis to a three-year entry-level contract.

The deal, announced by the team on Wednesday, comes with a cap hit of $897K.

Lardis, 18, joined the Blackhawks last summer after being selected 67th overall in the 2023 draft. Despite facing some injury setbacks this season with OHL Brantford, the Ontario-born winger has shown improvement, tallying 29 goals and 50 points in just 37 games.

Listed as a top-10 talent in the Blackhawks' prospect pool, Lardis brings impressive speed and scoring ability to the ice. Standing at 5'11" and weighing 165 lbs, he may not have the size of some other players, but his skating and sharp shooting make him a valuable asset for the team.

With his development still ongoing, Lardis is expected to return to Brantford next season.

While a spot on Chicago's roster right out of camp may not be in the cards, his potential for growth is promising.

If he plays fewer than 10 NHL games next season, his contract will be deferred to 2025-26, with the young forward becoming a restricted free agent upon its expiration in 2028.
