Despite announcing his retirement after the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs, rumors have persisted about a potential comeback for former Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron.
These rumors gained momentum last month when discussed on the Spittin Chiclets podcast featuring former NHL players Ryan Whitney and Paul "Buznasty" Bissonette.
However, it seems that hopes of Bergeron returning to the ice with the Bruins may have been exaggerated...but there's still a chance?
Addressing the speculation, Bergeron spoke with Bruins insider Joe Haggerty this week.
"I understand the comeback talk," Bergeron said. "I've been working out and skating with former NHL players. But people need to understand that this is a passion. I'm always going to love the game. So, for me to go out and enjoy a skate and those feelings again, it's great."
He certainly is not ruling it out, and it'll be interesting to see if the Bruins, who have been struggling this month could persuade him into making a return.
